Arms Raised in Huddle

We bring together 10th and 11th graders from Rochester with successful entrepreneurs, business leaders, and educators to create opportunities and connections. Through our program, students develop life skills and participate in educational, relationship, and career-building experiences.

Our Approach

Students are divided into groups of eight, and each group includes three leaders: a “connector,” a faculty/staff person, and another influencer to whom they can relate. These groups of 11 individuals actively participate in this experience, that includes three parts:

Part 1:

Initial connections and learning experiences:

  • A meet and greet event will be held at participating schools for selected students and families.

  • Local businesses and educational institutions offer mentoring and networking events to connect people and help them improve their skills.

  • Local business tours.

  • Here is a revised version of the text:

  • An introduction to people who are thoughtful, inspiring, and influential in our local community.

  • Learning events for future skill development.

Part 2:

A Three-day all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., that includes:

  • Transportation, hotel accommodations, and all meals.

  • Washington Nationals MLB Game.

  • Guest speaker from Rochester Boys and Girls Hall of Fame Inductee (Chip King).

  • Guest speaker Gerald Moore founder of Mission Fulfilled 2030

  • The National Museum of African American History and Culture.

  • An afternoon touring the Washington National Mall.

  • Tour of Howard University.

  • Other activities that inspire and connect the kids.

Part 3:  And Beyond:

  • Additional tours of local businesses.

  • Learning events for skills development.

  • Continuous introduction to thoughtful, inspiring, and influential people who can help connect kids to relationship-building, educational, and work opportunities.
